Full disclosure--I have tried to make this whistle sing, but haven't managed to get a full whistle out of it, though perhaps someone with a better aperture than I could achieve one. Nonetheless, it's a wonderful object--beautifully carved form, with a terrific dark dry wood patina. Best of all, pulling out the slide reveals it was notched and carved with the notes of the scale, indicating which note would have been produced by pulling the slide out that far. Very tender, quite old, and really very special.
7 15/16" l with slide closed, 2 7/16" t x 13/16" d. Very good structural condition and beautifully aged. As noted, I can't produce a true whistle with it.
