Lonely Trees Against Blue Sea and Sky, Oil on Board

Regular price $48.00

This painting is just the sort of moody thing that suits me, with its spindly trees (our what to call them?) on rocky outcrop looking as if forlornly gesturing toward the sea and sky. Seems pretty Beckett-esque to me, as if they are waving, and waiting, for someone or something that might never arrive.

Oil on board I believe, with a very matte surface. Sold in the mellow gold painted wooden frame I found it in, which shows plenty of surface wear but I think suits it pretty perfectly. Framed: 15 5/8" x 10 5/8" Painting" 13 3/4" x 8 3/4". Signed at lower right with what looks like Wm Ritter. Earlyish 20th century I believe.
