When I first spotted this wonderful little carved wooden boot I guessed it was a snuff box, as most I have in this style contain an interior compartment--usually concealed by a sliding top--for stashing snuff (ground tobacco, for snorting.) But this refined little boot seems simply to be what it is--just a charming carved object, which I'd guess dates to the mid 19th century or so. Great on the desk or anywhere.
4" long x 2 1/2" tall x 7/8" wide. Very good antique condition, with some wear to the wood around the edges at the top of the boot and a smallish white scuff mark on the surface of the wood near the top center on one side.
