This is a real beauty of an old stoneware crock, in terrific condition, and with a lid that actually matches it! I think the design is really lovely, with a mix of thin and thicker blue stripes, plus one unglazed band on the lid that is just the right thing. It feels very French to me, and would be gorgeous on the countertop in a rustic farmhouse kitchen, but also in a crisp white one. And it's plenty large to hold a lot of whatever one wants to store inside.
There's not a chip or crack on it that I can see, just a little cracking to the glaze circling the handle at the center of the lid. There are small imperfections to the glazing here and there, original to its creation, and which I think make it all the better. There are small nubs on opposite sides of the vessel to which a handle likely once was attached.
It measures 7 3/4" tall with lid and 5 5/8" in diameter.
