I found this one this week digging through a drawer at my favorite antiquarian book shop in Maine--and who am I ever to resist a rebus? This would be a good one for a very dedicated puzzler, too...as solving it would require some Dutch! It was printed on the reverse of an onion skin weight envelop/wrapper, the opposite side reading R. Krusina, Logementhouder (hotel/inn-keeper), Grijpskerk (a town located in the province of Groningen). Then in small type: Boekdrukkerij - E. Riemersma - Grijpskerk (printed by the local publisher/printer E. Riemersma). I believe there is some reference to the cold-hearted/unkind folk of Amsterdam embedded within it, but haven't gotten much farther than that!
5 13/16" x 4", excellent condition, c. late 19th century.
