I'm a sucker for beautiful fishing floats, which I find super satisfying objects, in terms of both painted surface and form (plus they're easy to hang!)--and this is among the most beautiful I've seen. Wonderfully (and to my eye very lovingly) painted yellow bands over the red on the stem at both ends as well as on the cork body of the float, and then this beautifully carved ring/bead near the end, red with a yellow stripes around the perimeter. Really a lovely thing.
10 3/4" l x 1 7/8" across at widest. Gorgeous aging to the painting. There is a very old ding to the cork on one side, which is now hardened over and totally stable. Otherwise excellent condition. Late 19th/ very early 20th century I would guess.
