This is the second table snuff box I've found, which from what I understand would be kept at home and used for sharing with company, as opposed to the smaller ones one more commonly sees and which were carried around in a pocket. It's not a fancy one, but I love the form, and it would be quite useful now for housing stashes of various sorts--and making a pretty good hiding place I'd think if placed up on a shelf! I'm terrible identifying woods but this looks like oak to me.
6 15/16" long x 5 1/8" tall x 2 3/8" wide. Very good condition.. There is a a little darkening to the finish in one area of one side, and little bit of wiggle to the hinged lid, but it appears well attached, opens easily and sits flush.
