The last from this recent batch of Inuit stone carvings, and perhaps my favorite of all, with the seal carved and polished to a very satisfying smoothness, amplified by contrast to the rougher slab of stone below. I find seals such compelling and endearing creatures, especially for their combination of grace in the water and awkwardness on land, and this carving holds the two in balance I think, with its head stretching forward as if just about to push off and glide in.
