In these parts, one finds a fair number of old industrial wooden molds once used to make metal parts. I think they are wonderful, but have resisted buying until I found just the right one. For me, this is it! I love the silhouette and complex interplay of forms, the contrast between finished dark wood and and black painted wood, and the dynamism of the whole thing, evoking planes, trains, machines, movement. I think it probably dates to the 1940s or so and came from a factory in Massachusetts or New Hamphire. And the back is almost as beautiful as the front! I'd either set it on a shelf or mantle, or attach a hook to the back and hang it on the wall.
