1927 Portrait of the Modernist Architect as a Young Man! Round Glasses, Linear Geometries, Original Frame

Regular price $45.00

My photos of this are not great (avoiding glare while trying to capture his bright whites...everything gets a bit washed out) but I love this photo--specifically as a portrait which feels to me quite a complete and resolved one. I've taken to calling this young man Bucky after Buckminster Fuller; perhaps his round glasses are closer to Philip Johnson's, but I prefer the former, and the geometries of the fencing and tower behind him feel more like the makings of a geodesic dome! Definitely our young man here looks to possess world-shaping aspirations, right down to the way he wears his slouchy sneakers, with ease and attitude. (What I have not figured out is what he is leaning against/holding behind him--at first I though the soft case of a musical instrument, but I am not sure it is that?) Dated August 21, 1927 on the back of the frame, original to it.

9 5/8" x 7 1/8" framed. Photo sight: 6 1/2" x 4 1/2". Original chair on back of frame for hanging. All in good condition. Found in southern Maine.
