High School Second Year, Beautiful Mounted Albumen Photo of Metalwork Projects Display in Original Oak Frame

Regular price $95.00

I find this so tender and lovely--an antique albumen photograph documenting a carefully arranged display of someone's--or someones's--2nd year high school metalworking projects, progressing from simple rings and s-hooks to a three ring chain to candleholders and tools with turned handles to andirons and fireplace tools. As a total failure in shop class, I can't even imagine completing this sort of work in high school, and really love the proud but unfussy arrangement of the objects against what looks to be a white paper backdrop--which the quality of the photograph makes feel delicate and almost like an archeological display, all the more so for the carefully lettered but very succinct and matter of fact caption. Housed in an old solid oak frame with wooden back that I might guess was made by the same person. Very sweet and special feeling.

Framed as found, in a nice period solid oak frame with wood back, under glass. All in very good condition, c. 1900 or just a bit earlier I believe. Framed: 13 7/8" x 11 7/8". Albumen photo itself: 6 5/8" x 6 3/4".
