Quite a striking fellow, purchased from a dealer in my neck of the woods. Definitely looks like the protagonist in a period drama, with many schemes up his sleeve! Ninth plate ambrotype with hand-tinted pink cheeks and lips. With just a bit of corrosion to the ambrotype showing as a few spots that look like sea moss to the right of his eyes, and one two more spots of the same--just to the right of his face and on his nose, those just visible if held at a certain angle.
2 1/2" x 2, original foil wrap, c. 1860s I believe. A few small spots as described above and as documented.
