This is the larger of two beautiful shino-glazed bowls that I purchased together (the other can be found here); I believe this one is a tea bowl or chawan as well, but it's plenty large to be used to serve treats to go along with the tea--and I'd also use it for cafe au lait. Hand-formed, it's wonderfully irregular, with really a fantastic surface, combining a thick shino-glaze with what I believe is a second metallic glaze applied over parts of the exterior. Just gorgeous and a wonderful thing to hold in one's hands.
There may be an incised mark at the center of the bottom but I am unable to distinguish it. The bowl is in excellent condition and measures 5 3/4" across at widest diameter x 3 7/8" tall.
