From what I've learned, this great old steel and brass D.M. & Co. padlock is a pretty rare one, dating to the Civil War era, and all the rarer in great working shape with key. D.M & Co stands for Davenport Mallor & Co of New Haven, CT and there were a few varieties of these they produced; this one, heart shaped, with decorative brass plate around the keyhole and simple brass swinging lock cover is my favorite I've seen. A great gift for the love of one's life, or for padlocking a box of precious tools, or just for hanging on the wall.
Great antique condition, opens and closes with ease and key turns great. 3 3/8" t x 2 1/2" w x 3/4" d. Key measures 2 5/16" l.
