Gorgeously Crusty Antique Primitive Clock Box/Watch Hutch with Slide Side

Regular price $160.00

I find something very satisfying about the form of an old hanging clock/watch hutch like this (at least I believe that it what this is)--kind of like a bee box, or a bird house, and kind of like an alter, and kind of like a mystery box into which one would reach one's hand to feel around in the dark, but there's just a void! Usually I resist but I found this one extra good, for the super crusty painted surface for sure, and rusty iron nails, too, and also the line/shape of the decorative piece attached at top, lovely. But perhaps most of all I love that it opens on the side via a fitted slide--unusual in my experience, and beautifully worn from use, and also making one think the maker of this was practiced at making slide lid boxes and so of course would make it that way. Found in Upstate NY.

91/2" x 5 7/8" x 4" d. Very good antique condition, solid and sturdy, with fantastic crusty original surface. Slider on side opens easily and closes tightly. Original wire hanger at top of backside.
