This one I found along with another, just listed, signed by a young Maud Ryan in 1900, and I'd guess Maud drew this one as well. While drawn with a bit of a light hand, for me this has a wonderful intensity about it--looks to me like this girl's eyes could burn holes straight through whatever she was facing! I really love the rendering of her exposed wrist, too--conveying a sense of sleeves too short for the ever lengthening arms of a growing girl. Careful, tender attention to the details of the chair too. And wonderful feet!
7" x 5 7/8" and in good condition. Graphite a bit light, as drawn, and a few minor stains to the paper.
