Gate with Tree Like Pediment, Ornament on Reverse, Henry Hinkel Crayon Drawing, 1913, Lancaster, NY

One of a handful today pulled from the already falling apart sketchbook of a young Henry Henkel of Lancaster, NY, who wrote his name many times all over it. I find this one especially satisfying, with this colorful door/gate looking imposing but also quite inviting, including for a pediment that looks rather like a Christmas tree--fitting, as I believe it a holiday ornament hanging from a red ribbon on reverse. 

8 1/4" x 6 7/8". Crayon on paper, very good condition.
