This antique tintype amazes me for how completely contemporary these four look. And, as I've noted before, I find that stark tintypes like this, more than any other sort of photographs, make the subjects feel as if they are just right here in the room, hearts beating. What a gang of four, immediately making me think of Clockwork Orange, and with the young man at top left and lower right especially seeming as if just walked out of a Peter Hujar photograph; very 1970s-early 80s NYC. I am really completely taken with this, down to the tender gesture of one's hand with lit cigarette resting on the pinstriped leg of his friend.
3 5/8" x 2 3/8". Some scratches to the surface and wear around the edges, which feels 100% of a piece with it.
