I don't always go for old folk art pastel drawings, but I love the almost surreal aspect of this one, with this large pear and bunch of black grapes positioned amid a landscape as if they were human in scale, like the protagonists in some small drama--perhaps heading together (and they certainly do feel like a couple!) toward the blue sky in the distance! And doesn't it just seem like the pear is the one who is going to take the lead, while those grapes look more inclined to lounge! This delights me.
Frame" 11 1/4" x 10". Sight 9 1/2" x 7 1/2. Good condition, in original frame. There is a bit of stain along far right edge and top right corner of drawing, fairly minor but visible. Nice original wood back on frame and wired for hanging.
