A little bit tramp-y and maybe also a little bit Arts and Crafts, this old handmade box frame is about 3/4 inches deep inside, so could accommodate a piece with some relief elements, or even little diorama of sorts. There is a slit at top for a plate of glass to slide through (no glass is included but easy to have one cut), which would sit flush to the front, just inside. I really love the delicate frame atop the frame, composed of thin strips of wood nailed to the face and which appear likely to once have been painted gold, now much mellowed.
Overall: 11 5/8" x 9 1/4" x 1 13/16" d. Frame itself 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 3/4" d, with visible area 7 3/8" x 5". Wear and aging to the surface, with the main frame a sort of mellowed oxblood and the decorative frame a very mellow gold. Structurally sound and very sweet.
