For Dropping Pins and Wiping Pens, Punny Victorian Hand-painted Trompe l'Oeil Dish

A visual pun, a pen and and a pin, rendered in trompe l'oeil fashion, on a little dish that could be used for used for dropping pins, or wiping pens, and with a little black ink residue around the far rim in a couple of spots that suggests the later. Hand-painted I believe, good for a writers desk, or a tailor's table now! 

4 1/4 x 2 13/16. Late 19th century or so, good condition, no chips or cracks, just a few tiny black ink stains around the edge as noted.
