SOLD Fires/Stone, c. 1930 Double-SIded Porcelain Enamel on Iron Perfectly Partial and Eroded Firestone Sign

Regular price $100.00

I find porcelain enamel signs really beautiful to begin with, and the orange against blue color here especially so, framed by much rusted and eroded iron on all sides.  As of a lover of found language, it's of course the words and their associations that really sold me: Fires on one side, Stone on the other, a bit like Hot and Cold, but much more elemental and evocative and applicable to all sorts of contexts. (Somewhat apocalyptic feeling too.)  Obviously an old Firestone sign, c. 1930s I believe, with the style of that lettering immediately recognizable. Found in New Hampshire.

17 1/2" x 7 3/4"  Partial and rusted as evident and with just a bit of curl as documented in last photo. Color all the richer n person.
