One of my very favorites of the month--a fabulous, very folky, very full of life Eve with red apple firmly in hand (looking also like a third nipple, and a target, and a stigmata) and four more fruits hanging immediately overhead. (And just in case not obvious, "EVE" is carved in block letters along the top edge on the reverse, with monogram, N.E.B, along the left edge.) With a big triangle of a nose, stained darker brown as if for emphasis, and black painted eye lashes/brows. And making excellent use of the natural form of the wood to provide her a sort of pedestal--or precipice--to stand upon.
9 13/16” t x 3 x 2 1/4 (base) ; top 2 1/2” wide. Good vintage condition, stands study on its own, with varnish finish. There is a small scuff to the surface of her left (our right) thigh, minor.
