Elsie Zimmerman's Full of Character Graphite Chair Drawing, c. 1930s

This chair was one of a handful of school drawings found in Lancaster County PA by a young Elsie Zimmerman, c. 1930s I believe. I've come to recognize standard programs of drawing exercises for grade school students during various decades, and have had one other chair drawing of a similar ilk to this one, which I believe was part of the program during that period, an exercise in perspective I believe. I love it very much as a stand alone drawing--one can feel the labor of the eye and hand in every line, trying to get it right. To my eye really very lovely.

 9" x 6 1/8". Very good condition, graphite on heavy weight tan paper.
