SOLD Antique German Composition Piggy Candy Container

Regular price $110.00

I don't usually get too excited about an old candy containers, but I really really love this pig, late 19th/early 20th c. I believe, and I think likely German.  He reminds me some of old butcher display pieces, in miniature, and what a wonderful piggy face! Made of composition material, painted pink and gray, and with the pretty, original paper litho liner around his neck, visible when one removes his head--and can peer into his belly! These appear to be quite precious things now, and I must say I understand why; very charming!

4 1/4  l x 1 3/4" w x 2 5/8 t and in good condition. There is a minor hairline crack on one side, just on the surface I believe and not threatening soundness. The liner circling the interior of the neck, holding the head, is not glued in place; it may slip a bit but is easily put back in place to hold the head tightly. It would be easy to glue if a concern but I opted not to do.
