This photo is among a handful of things listed today that I bought mostly for myself and have held on to for a while, but I'm doing some clearing (and rarely getting to framing), so here it is. And what a stunner, with this giant painted woman looking poised to reach around pick him up (or squash him) in her giant hand! The incorporation of the edge of wall (or door) in the painting of her, separating the two of them, really makes it for me, lending a tension and dynamism to the photo as a whole. And it feels like everything else is crumbling around them, with all sorts of scrap piled up behind. The photo is dated 1933 on the reverse in pencil, but neither that or google image searches have helped me identify the artist.
4 1/2" x 3 3/8". Very good condition, rich tonality. She in slightly sharper/crisper focus than he is, as she should be:)
