Spain and Portugal: Gorgeous c. 1840 Ink and Watercolor Hand-drawn Map

Regular price $75.00

I forever have an eye out for hand-drawn maps of all sorts, and especially ink and watercolor ones of this ilk, which I believe were done in school as part of geography class (can you imagine?!) These (this is one of five I am listing) I purchased from a seller near to me in Massachusetts, who dates them to 1840 or so based on a map of the United States done by the same person, which included “Texas Territory” (Texas became a state in 1845). To me these are beautiful in a similar way to old geometry notebooks with ink and watercolor diagrams, while also fueling travel fantasies and providing lessons in both history and geography! Very finely done and just lovely.

Paper size: 12 1/2 x 10 1/4". Very good condition, with just minor soiling/toning in margins. Paper is a heavy weight wove. Clean, blank reverse.
