A lovely old speller--John Comly's Spelling and Reading Book with Notes for Parents and Teachers, published by Lippincott, Granbo & Co Philadelphia, copyright 1842, this copy 1853.  Here with most of the engravings hand-colored, a handful of cut paper capital letters found inside, and some nice handwriting on the endpages. I'm such a sucker for these old readers, and this I think one embodies exactly why! With good lists of words throughout, which always feel like found poetry to me.

6 5/8" x 4 1/4", 167 numbered pages. Plenty of wear to covers, some separation of bound pages from spine and tears/losses to the last couple of pages, but holding together pretty well and very charming.
