Since I started paying attention to antique Delft tiles, I just can't get enough, each one its own special thing, a perfect-scale drawing rendered in blue and, happily, baked to endure! A very cherubic child with staff here (I would guess meant to represent the Christ child), toes tipped forward and seeming poised to embark on a long journey--which this tile did, clearly living a life, with some old clay grout still clinging to one edge. A nice old one, 17th century I believe, with a wonderful presence.
Approx 5 3/4" x 5 3/4". Hairline surface crack (just surface) coming in from left edge and a bit of loss to surface of lower right corner--I don't think at all detracting, the wear is part of what I think makes these old ones feel special.
