The frame (with pretty little acorn at top holding a hanging ring) tells me that this inked silhouette dates to the 1830s or so, though probably once held glass, which is long gone. Thus, there is wear and aging to the painting and paper, including some loss to what appears to have been gold-painted details on her hair and bodice. I kind of like the effect, lending it some extra aura, but with her quite prominent nose still very clearly pronounced!
Framed: 4 5/8" x 3 7/8". Sight: 2 1/2" x 1 15/16". What to the edges of the frame as well as to the surface of the painting.
