Upon walking into a favorite treasure trove in Cohoes, NY, this is the first thing I saw, sitting on the counter, just arrived that day--and of course love at first sight for me with these boys and birds. Carved of oak I believe, with its original glass and wooden back, just waiting for a portrait of a beloved--be it boy or bird or otherwise! Wonderfully distinctive faces, beautifully detailed hands, charming birds in profile perched at top and bottom keeping watch, and intensive pinprick type patterning covering the entire ground.
12 3/8 x 10 5/8; opening on back 5 1/4 x 7 1/8; sight 5 1/8 x 3 11/16. All in excellent condition.
