Every inch of this old shoeshine box makes me happy, from the wonderfully primitive shoe form at top, to the combination of old red and green paint, to the fat old nails everywhere--but most of all it is the "Shine" carved across the front and the many "BoB"s carved everywhere else! This was, most definitely, Bob's box, and one has to think he was quite proud of it. Really a terrific folk art object I think, which could also provide handy storage, though I'd be inclined to put it on a pedestal.
12" l x 12" t x 8 1/4" w, pine wood, very sturdy and sound, beautifully aged and worn. Photos really don't capture the full beauty and texture of this.
