I'm rather obsessed with this old German milk pitcher--I love the image of someone painstakingly painting all those rows of little blue triangles, which add up to the most perfectly imperfect surface decoration; just gorgeous. Over the years this pitcher has accumulated a really wonderful patina, too, with a little darkening here and there, which gives it just a fantastic presence and warmth. I can imagine building a whole kitchen--even a whole cottage!--around this thing; in every way it is just right.
I'd guess it dates to the mid- to late-19th century and is marked "Germany" in blue on the bottom. No chips or cracks that I can see, just some staining here and there. 5" tall x 5 1/4" across at handle; 3 1/2" across at base.
