Love at first sight with this one--she called to me loudly through the glass of the locked case of a dealer based in New Hampshire and there was no way I could walk away. Just a beautifully executed, super sensitive carving I think, wonderful from every angle and down to every detail. (The carving of her hair, especially where the lines of one section cross over top of the section that frames her face, just breaks my heart.) Indigenous American I am pretty certain, though I am not sure if Inuit or U.S. Native, and I might guess 1940s-50s or so, but again am not completely sure.
5 1/2" tall x 3 3/4" w x 3" d. Heavy, with a very substantial presence and stained a rich dark brown. There is one small flaw in the wood at her chin, which I don't believe detracts. Otherwise, very good condition.
