A beauty of an early handmade slate, earlier 19th c. than later I believe, with carved wooden pegs holding the jointed corners and one beautifully executed wrapped tin corner mend. I do believe antique school slates are a most wonderful thing to collect, each having lived quite a life, with old repairs like this enabling their endurance and making them special. How nice to create a whole wall of beautiful examples.
14" t x 9 3/4" w x 1/2", very good antique condition, sturdy and sound, with lots of use left in it should one want to put some chalk to it. With a small hole top center one could thread to hang.
