I've bought and sold one or two doll bodies of this sort over the years, and find it quite hard to resist one in perfect condition, right down to the perfect navy blue knit stockings here, pulled up tight and held in place via their original tacks on the back of the white kid leather legs. Who needs a head? A really much more evocative without one I think. I believe this body is German, c. 1900, though there are related French examples. With original bisque hands, and the red thread used for seam around the neck is a lovely thing too.
10 7/8" t x approx 3 1/2" w at shoulders. Beautiful antique condition.
