I found this old carved pine scoop at a shop in New Hampshire and just couldn't put it down. My photos don't really do justice (I think I haven't mastered the settings on my newish iphone camera very well and it picks up every undertone in wood)--but between the form and the wood and the wear, it's a lovely and very honest feeling thing. Looks like it was once stained/painted, but that has worn away entirely on the scoop itself, remaining just on the handle, except for on the underside of that nice hooked end, where it would have knocked against the table or whatever again and again when put down. Useful still for scooping all sorts of dry things, and a very nice thing to hold in hand, but also beautiful enough just to hang or set somewhere.
7 7/8" l x 2 3/8" w x 1 1/2" d. Good antique condition, well used, nice warm dry patina on the scoop. A little roughness along the top/straight edge, as one would expect.
