Such a charming carving! I assume this young baseball player in pin striped uniform and cap is none other than Arthur Robert himself, who signed the piece in the upper left corner. He certainly looks happy and eager holding his bat, and how can you beat those striped socks??!! I love to think that making this carving is the first thing young Arthur started in the year 1940; it is dated 1/1/40 at bottom right. A fabulous gift for the young and emerging athlete!
Very good vintage condition and ready to hang on the wall. It measures 6" tall x 2 3/8" wide x 3/16" deep without the string hanging loop, which has a drop of 2 3/4".
