Baseball! C. 1920-30s Naive Graphite Drawing on 19th C. Ledger Paper

Regular price $40.00

This is one of five drawings on ledger paper I am listing, all found together, with some 19th c. writing on some of the pages, but the drawings done a few decades later, I'm guessing 1920s or 30s, when a kid, or a few kids, got a hold of the ledger. I love a baseball drawing, and love how this one is all about the pitcher (such a great face, and striped socks, and I love that both hands look as if gloved) and the crouching catcher, with two tiny figures running bases and a first and second and third baseman much more minor in proportion!  Perhaps it's an outfielder taking a nap (passed out?) above, or a self-portrait of the young artist who drew it, dreaming of baseball! Love.

13 7/8” l x 8 1/2” and in good condition, with minor scattered smudges and stains and erasures.
