I don't sell a lot of books, but when I add one to the shop it is because I think it's pretty special. Like this one. Collecting Inuit art would be the first thing I'd do if I had the means, but as it is this gorgeous 1975 book is the next best thing, with more than 100 full page reproductions of a diverse, stunning selection of prints, dating from the late 50s to the early 70s, produced by artists from the Cape Dorset, Povungnituk, Holman, Baker Lake, and Pangnirtung regions.
The 240 page, cloth-covered hardback also features artist biographies, brief notes about each print, a bibliography, and two essays, including an essay by Patrick Furneaux tracing the history and development of printmaking centers and cooperatives in the regions featured.
Very good condition. Some wear to the dust cover, and a little buckling to the cloth cover in one area on the spine and back, as pictured, but spine is in good shape and pages are clean and bright. (The lighting in my photos is somewhat inconsistent but pages are bright white.)10 3/8" x 10 1/4" x 1 1/4".
