I can't look at a chess board without thinking of Duchamp, my personal favorite artist-thinker ever, and so I have a particular fondness for images of chess games in progress, embodying strategic minds at work. I think the framing on this snapshot is so good, with the bent knees, and elbows too, of these men pointing straight toward the corners of the board. And it seems just right that they should be in what look to me like army greens, with chess certainly an apt metaphor for the tactics of war. With the added delight of a partial glimpse of the face of the player at left, looking rather stumped.
3 3/8" x 4 1/2". Very good condition.
