I'm on the hunt for a great old tumbling blocks quilt, but in the meantime a pin cushion in the form of a single tumbling block will do! (If you look at it a certain way it is illusionistic, as if an actual cube--with the juxtaposition of oppositely oriented striped pieces advancing the effect, and the pattern of squares on purple fabric functioning almost like a visual pun!) The flip side is maybe not quite so dynamic, and the finer plaid shows some thread loss--but the pin cushion will stand on end like a little sculpture, for optimal front view display. And of course has lots of life in it yet as a pin cushion. Nice.
2 1/2” diameter x 1” t. Some thread loss to fabric on one side as documented but stable and not at all fragile.
