My photos, taken as I tried to avoid too much glare, don't really do this one justice, but details do a slightly better job. I really like the mix of aspects captured by the portrait, to my eye making this young man seem a combination of sensitive and curious and serious and studious as also as if trying hard to appear confident and self-possessed but really a bit shy and insecture. Anyway, that's what I see! And the reverse glass painted frame, with gold framing the portrait, makes it feel extra special. Signed R. Campbell or similar.
11 3/4" x 9 3/4" framed; portrait (as visible) measures 5 7/8" x 4 1/4". Very good condition, late 19th century I would guess. Wired on the back for hanging.
