This sweet and truly lovely small pitcher with hand-painted bluebirds dates from the first decade or so of the 20th century. While it is more common to find hand-painted bluebirds like these on ceramic pieces than on glass, I think it is the transparency that makes this piece really wonderful, creating the effect of a busy flock fluttering all around. With great lines and a gold rim too, it's perfect for serving fresh squeezed orange juice at breakfast, and then a small batch of clear of colorful cocktails at happy hour. Charming as a vase as well!
6.5" tall x 5.5" wide. Excellent vintage condition, with a little bit of loss of the gold around the rim, and a few small, very light spots on the glass.
