SOLD Another Vintage Charles Perry Brass Ball Puzzle

Regular price $165.00

I found one of these a couple months ago, and just went back to the NH dealer who sold it to me to scoop up the other he had, both purchased from the same collection.

This "ball" puzzle, comprised of interlocking solid brass pieces, was designed in 1967 by Charles O. Perry (American 1929-2011), a sculptor and designer best known for monumental structures composed with mathematical complexity. There is one "key" piece that spring locks into place to complete the puzzle, and will release once one finds it (a bit of trial and error but not hard) to allow one to take it apart. (I have not ventured to do so!)

The first editions of these were produced in the 60s and then another edition c. 1982. Some were signed, some I have seen not; this one is not, or at least I don’t see it. General wear, this one with a stronger patina to the brass than the other I had, solid and quite heavy and very satisfying in hand. A lovely and iconic thing (like a next generation Aubock)--and there are plenty of instructions out there on line for solving it once taken apart!

Approx 1 1/2" d. Good vintage condition.
