At some point someone must have turned up a large lot of Bill Anthony drawings, small piles of which surface around these parts now and then. I bought a good handful a few years ago, all since sold, but came across some more while I was out and about last week and chose two from that pile, both of which I think are great examples--for being of the very specific and therefore more over the top feeling variety. The subject here seems to have been a regular model for the artist (I recognized her immediately!) and one can imagine the desire driving the creation of this one was to fit as many shoes into the drawing as possible! With an ankle bracelet to boot. One might not think these to be my sort of thing, but I really appreciate them, including for the feeling one gets that Anthony, a commercial illustrator by day, was really earnest about and committed to them.
10 1/2" x 7 1/8". Good condition, black ink on paper board. A little toning/staining to lower right corner and far right edge, minor.
