I believe mid 19th century on this charming oil on board river scene, and think most likely the river pictured is the Hudson. It is unsigned, and I don't know much more than that, except that it came from the estate of a serious collector of Americana. I really like this bucolic spot at river bend that it frames, with feathery trees on either side, boaters straight ahead, and a structure built into the side of the bank at left, where it looks like a man or woman is minding his dog or big chicken! Really a sweet old small painting.
Good condition. Light cracking to the surface of the paint consistent with age, and light wear along the edges and corners, fairly minor. 9 1/8" tall x 6 1/8" wide.
