19th C. Double-Sided Naive Graphite & Crayon Drawing: Girl and Deer, Flowers

This is one of a handful of drawings I'm listing by the same (surely quite young) maker, found together in an old notebook already partially disassembled so I went ahead and separated them all. I'd guess 1860s or 70s or so, and all quite wonderful, with the people and animals especially soulful--this girl and deer a perfect case in point!--but the flowers on reverse really quite full of life too! Crayon was used fairly sparingly in these, making the pink of her cheeks and blue of her dress feel all the more poignant. 

7 3/4" x 5 1/4" and in very good condition, with minor smudges/stains.
