1862 Schoolgirl Cut Paper Hairwork Momentos - SOLD INDIVIDUALLY

Regular price $55.00

SOLD: A, D, E

So much fun to find these! Each example here features two cut paper pieces with braided or twisted hair samples stitched onto sky blue paper, with the initials of the friends or family members from whence they came written in pencil, most often inside of hearts! I would guess all of these came from one album, kept by a young girl, with one example noting the year: 1862. Kind of amazing how well they endured from the Civil War era until now, with the hair looking as if it might have been clipped yesterday! Pretty special.

SOLD INDIVIDUALLY - price is per page, labelled A through E.  Add the number of pieces (1 or more) you want to your cart, then, when you check out, PLEASE INDICATE THE LETTER OF THE PIECE YOU WANT IN THE NOTES FIELD, as well as a backup if possible.

Pages are about 5 1/2 to 5 5/8" tall;  3 5/8 to 3 3/4" wide. The blue paper could certainly be trimmed to separate the two samples on each page, but the hair samples themselves are stitched onto the blue paper so I might be wary to try to remove them entirely. All are in good condition, with the hair tightly secured, just minor aging to the cut paper.
