I'm a sucker for antique marbled anything and just thought--think!--these, of the mochaware sort, really lovely. They are an early set made by James Macintyre pottery, Staffordshire--with an impressed stamp on the bottom of the salt cellars for Macintyre in addition to the "British Design Registration Diamond," which dates them 1842-1867. Often referred to as "agateware" they are not technically that; true agateware was made by combining contrasting colored clays to create marbled/swirled patterns running all the way through the ceramic body; here that effect was achieved through marbled slip glazing.
Rare to find a set like this including mustard pot, pepper shaker, and salt cellars, which would have made, from what I can discern, a complete set. Perhaps the perfect things for the holiday table, though it also strikes me that one could fill them with powders and potions now--or just enjoy looking at them!
Salts: 2 1/2" d x 1 1/4" t. Mustard 3" t (3 1/4" at handle) x 2 3/8" d. Pepper 4" t x 2" d. Very good overall condition. One small repair to base of pepper as documented- very well done, not visible unless turned upside down. Greening to the rim of the mustard pop, the metal (silver plate I presume) on which I have not touched.
